Hustler's Tavern
A cocktail bar and restaurant on Center Street in Lewiston, famous for Detroit-style pizza and hand-crafted cocktails. It's named for Catherine Hustler, whose tavern, the story goes, gave the cocktail its name.
Our take
Catherine Hustler ran a tavern in Lewiston, one of the few buildings left standing after the British burned the village in 1813. The story goes that American soldiers raided a British commissary and brought her some fowl to roast. She decorated the bottles and jars with the tail feathers, and when a guest called for "a glass of the cocktail," the name was born. Today's Hustler's Tavern keeps the legend going with its hand-crafted cocktails.
